Hooked on fishing in Florida

They call Florida the “Fishing Capital of the World’ and for good reason. With superb weather year-round, 2,276 miles of tidal shoreline and more than 11,000 miles of rivers, streams and waterways, you can be sure you are always within reach of a place to drop your fishing line. In Florida, a diversity of sport fishing awaits visitors with plenty of coastline for surf fishing and a variety of rivers, lakes and estuaries available for brackish and freshwater fishing.

ESTA Charges To Start 9th Sept

The US government is to start charging UK travellers $14 (£9) to apply for permission to enter the country. At present the compulsory Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (Esta) is free to use and apply for entry into the U.S, but from 9th September visitors to the US will be required to pay for it. So......if you are booked to travel after the 9th September, then it is advisable to apply for your ESTA approval within the next few weeks to avoid the charge.

It lasts for two years; people who already have a valid form will not have to pay until their current one expires.

The scheme was introduced in January 2009 but was made mandatory from January 2010.
It applies to all 35 countries with US "visa waiver" status which includes Great Britain.

The Electronic System for Travel Authorisation form, which takes up to 72 hours to be approved, gives air passengers prior approval for entry to the US. It replaced the green I-94 card which passengers have previously filled in on their flight into the US.

Magic of Harry Potter

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is the latest magic conjured up by Universal Studios Orlando Resort .. And, judging from the crowds that packed the park and the Orlando hotels over the last week, you’ll love it. Located in the rear of Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park, the new Harry Potter attraction comes as close to the book and the popular films , as you can get in a theme park venue. It’s all here—Hogwarts, of course, Honeyduke’s for sweets; Ollivanders, where Potter fans can pick out their very own wands; Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods, many of which are on sale; the Three Broomsticks where park-goers can grab a magical meal and the Hog’s Head Bar where you can grab a mug of Butterbeer, Pumpkin juice or a real beer for mum or dad.

But the real adventures in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter are the rides. Just looking at the Dragon Challenge—two ferocious rollercoaster dragons that twist, turn and loop at frighteningly high speeds and seem to just miss one another at the last minute—is enough to set off a major apoplexy attack in your average vertigo sufferer. The Flight of the Hippogriff is a little tamer, spiraling around the pumpkin patch and soaring past Hagrid’s Hut.

But it’s Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey that’s going to impress you—a high-tech marvel that is downright thrilling. Here, guests enter through the gates of Hogwarts, which are guarded by two winged boars, before heading into Hogwarts Castle’s elaborate passageways and corridors where the enchanted wizard portraits hanging on the walls—including those of the four Hogwarts founders—chat away. Then, they’ll venture into Dumbledore’s office, where the headmaster welcomes guests and invites them to hear a lecture about the history of the school. From here, it’s on to the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom where Harry, Ron and Hermione entice the visitors to join them instead. Just past the Gryffindor common room, guests encounter the Sorting Hat, and then enter the Room of Requirement to take their seats on enchanted benches and begin the Forbidden Journey.

Book a package to Orlando, and include flexi passes to get the most out of Universal Studios ..
